For a group of six or more, the maths rarely favours a hotel. Here’s an honest comparison of what you actually get with a private pool villa versus a hotel stay of the same budget.
A hotel room for two, even a nice one, rarely exceeds 40 square metres. A 5-bedroom villa easily offers ten times that across bedrooms, living areas, gardens and pool deck combined, split across the same group. For groups and families, that space difference is the whole point of choosing a villa.
A private pool means exactly that: no shared loungers, no reserving a spot at 7am, no strangers in your photos. For families with young kids or groups that want to relax without an audience, this alone often settles the decision.
Comparing one hotel room to one villa looks expensive at first glance. But a 5-bedroom villa split across five couples, or eight to ten travellers, frequently comes out cheaper per person than five separate hotel rooms at a comparable standard, especially once you add resort fees and breakfast charges that hotels tack on per room.
Hotels win on walk-up flexibility (no advance booking needed for a night), on-site variety like multiple restaurants and bars, and daily housekeeping as standard rather than optional. If your trip is short, solo, or last-minute, a hotel is often still the simpler choice.
If your group fits that profile, compare real options among our private pool villas in Goa, Bali and Thailand and run the per-person maths for yourself.
